Baggage Policy
Hong Kong Airlines baggage policy varies depending on the route and ticket class.
Carry-on/Cabin Baggage Policy
Economy class passengers can carry one item of carry-on baggage, whereas Business class passengers can have two items of carry-on luggage. Furthermore, the baggage dimensions should not exceed 15 cm or 56cm x 36cm x 23cm. Lastly, the baggage should not exceed 7kg weight.

NOTE: Bulkhead seats lack under-seat storage, so all carry-on and cabin luggage must be stored in the overhead compartment during takeoff and landing.
Checked Baggage
Economy class passengers can carry baggage weighing up to 20kg, whereas Business class passengers can carry one 30kg baggage. In addition, gold and Platinum Fortune wings members can take an extra 30kg, whereas Silver Fortune wings can take an additional 20 kg. As a result, economy class passengers flying to Australia can carry 30kg of checked baggage, and Business class passengers can carry 40 kg of luggage.

Self-Bag drop (SBD)

This self-bag drop method is very convenient, swift, andsy. Six SBD machines at Hong Kong airlines counters at the internationally acclaimed Hong Kong International Airport. Airlines staff will be present to assist the passengers with the new service. Currently, that trial run is going on, so this service only applies to passengers and has one check baggage. There are a few steps to use SBD; they are as follows:
- Passengers must complete online/self-check-in and have a boarding pass in hand.
- Proceed to the SBD counters.
- Passengers must follow the instructions on the SBD device and then retrieve the bag tag.
- They can then attach the back tag to their baggage
- Lastly, drop the luggage at the counter and collect the baggage receipt
Excess Baggage Fee
Hong Kong Airlines (HX) will charge the following for excess baggage on flights between Hong Kong and Saipan, Canada, the United States, Australia, or New Zealand:
- USD 300 for a bag up to 50 lb and 62 in in length, width, and height
- USD 400 for a load up to 70 lb and 62 in in length, width, and height
- USD 500 for a bag up to 70 lb and 80 in in length, width, and height
